The next issue of the CRS journal “CRITIC” (Volume 16) will be published in January 2019. We invite articles in the field of Russian Language, Literature, Culture, Comparative Studies and Translation as well as book reviews, translation of literary works and interviews. The articles in the required format must be sent to the Editors by November 15, 2018 to the mail ID critic.crs.jnu@gmail.com

The publication policy along with the style sheet with guidelines for sending the articles is attached herewith. You are requested to kindly follow the format in the style sheet.

PUBLICATION POLICY

The Journal Critic is an annual blind peer reviewed publication of the Centre of Russian Studies (CRS), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. It was established in 1971 and since 1999 it is being regularly published. The journal investigates into the new horizons, various interpretations, new ideas, reviews, etc. in Russian studies from ancient period to the present day. Critic does not charge any processing fee for publication.

The Journal publishes papers on the following areas of research:

  • Russian Language
  • Russian Literature
  • Russian History
  • Russian Culture
  • Book Reviews
  • Interviews
  • Critical theory
  • Comparative Studies
  • Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Folklore
  • Translation of Russian literary texts into English/Hindi (up to 3000 words)
  • Translation of literary texts into Russian (up to 3000 words)

The aim of ‘Critic’ is to manifest the critical as well as appreciable approach on various perspectives of Russian studies worldwide today. The journal is an effort to encourage and motivate the study of Russian culture among the scholars and philologists. The articles will be published in the journal ‘Critic’ only after the recommendation of peer-reviewers. The article may be written in Russian, Hindi, English or respective language compared with. The articles should be submitted along with the abstract in English Language.

INSTRUCTONS TO AUTHORS

  1. Anti-Plagiarism: The editorial board may reject the submitted article, if it is found plagiarized through plagiarism checking software.

 

  1. Word limit: Articles should not exceed 3000 words excluding bibliography & notes.

 

  1. Abstract: An Abstract of the article (maximum 200 words) should be submitted.

 

  1. Proofread: The manuscript should be fully proofread throughout by the author.

 

  1. Illustrations: Images, tables, etc. should be embedded into the manuscript. The images and illustrations are also required to be sent separately along with the manuscript. All the illustrations should be properly indexed and a table of index should be provided at the end of the article.

 

Format:

Article should be submitted in MS Word only

Format of the text: Times New Roman, 12 point font, single space, normal intent. Page margin: Left 2, Right 1, Top 1, Bottom 1

Title of the article: Times New Roman, 14 point font, bold, capital letters, single space, heading intent

Name of Author/Co-Author: Times New Roman, 10 point font, bold, single space, normal intent followed by biobibliographical information of the author in not more than 50 words along with contact number and mail ID.

 

Notes and References should be marked as FOOTNOTES as per the following format:

A warm welcome to the modified and updated website of the Centre for East Asian Studies. The East Asian region has been at the forefront of several path-breaking changes since 1970s beginning with the redefining the development architecture with its State-led development model besides emerging as a major region in the global politics and a key hub of the sophisticated technologies. The Centre is one of the thirteen Centres of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi that provides a holistic understanding of the region.

Initially, established as a Centre for Chinese and Japanese Studies, it subsequently grew to include Korean Studies as well. At present there are eight faculty members in the Centre. Several distinguished faculty who have now retired include the late Prof. Gargi Dutt, Prof. P.A.N. Murthy, Prof. G.P. Deshpande, Dr. Nranarayan Das, Prof. R.R. Krishnan and Prof. K.V. Kesavan. Besides, Dr. Madhu Bhalla served at the Centre in Chinese Studies Programme during 1994-2006. In addition, Ms. Kamlesh Jain and Dr. M. M. Kunju served the Centre as the Documentation Officers in Chinese and Japanese Studies respectively.

The academic curriculum covers both modern and contemporary facets of East Asia as each scholar specializes in an area of his/her interest in the region. The integrated course involves two semesters of classes at the M. Phil programme and a dissertation for the M. Phil and a thesis for Ph. D programme respectively. The central objective is to impart an interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of history, foreign policy, government and politics, society and culture and political economy of the respective areas. Students can explore new and emerging themes such as East Asian regionalism, the evolving East Asian Community, the rise of China, resurgence of Japan and the prospects for reunification of the Korean peninsula. Additionally, the Centre lays great emphasis on the building of language skills. The background of scholars includes mostly from the social science disciplines; History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, International Relations and language.

Several students of the centre have been recipients of prestigious research fellowships awarded by Japan Foundation, Mombusho (Ministry of Education, Government of Japan), Saburo Okita Memorial Fellowship, Nippon Foundation, Korea Foundation, Nehru Memorial Fellowship, and Fellowship from the Chinese and Taiwanese Governments. Besides, students from Japan receive fellowship from the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
